Defining Diagnostic Test Sequences

Designing diagnostic test sequences quickly and conveniently
Today, complete diagnostic tests can be designed quickly and easily. With VAT® (Visual Authoring Tool®) from MAHLE Powertrain, the test authors and calibrators no longer require in-depth programming language knowledge. Instead, they work within a high-level graphical system environment. For the creation of individual diagnostic tests, VAT® offers pre-established functions in the form of icons, which are easy to combine. The results of each individual diagnostic test are depicted in the form of a flow chart.

The diagnostic tests created in this way can then be arranged sequentially or in parallel by individual phases through "drag and drop" with the help of the VAT® test sequence editor and combined into complete Test Sequences. A clear advantage: When the logical conditions for test execution change, the diagnostic test can be modified without difficulty – quickly and cost-efficiently. Later, the revised diagnostic tests are implemented on a diagnostic tester in a runtime environment such as TestLogiq®, RepairLogiq® or DataLogiq®.

Locally or networked
VAT® is based on an SQL database. It is available locally or as a server application on a network for distributed organizational units.

Different vehicle types, many languages
When using VAT®, common diagnostic tests and their processes can be customized to different vehicle types, typically based on content or options. In addition, the language editor allows the test authors and calibrators to release all screen messages from the existing diagnostic tests in several languages. Consequently, a diagnostic test can be parameterized centrally and then be used worldwide without additional expenses.

VAT® – power for vehicle experts
Test system solutions with VAT® are synonymous with flexibility and modularity. When using VAT®, our customers can program their own diagnostic tests quickly and reliably, or easily modify existing diagnostic tests. Customized data, such as a diagnostics fault code list in MS-Excel or .csv formats, can be imported effortlessly. Test sequences prepared with VAT® can be implemented for diagnosis within a series of runtime environments of our Logiq products. Moreover, our test system solutions are also supported by a series of web-based software products.
