Cosworth Technology's (MAHLE Powertrain today) Engineering, Manufacturing and Castings divisions achieved joint certification to the EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) Regulation on 6th February 2002. The Manufacturing division at Wellingborough has been added to the 2001 Statement following their certification to ISO 14001 in October 2001.

In 2001, Cosworth Technology was one of the first companies in Europe to be certified to the revised EMAS Regulation, which allows joint site certification and non-manufacturing sites to be included.

EMAS is a European Directive, which encourages industry to manage its environmental effects and report on its environmental performance. It incorporates ISO 14001 as the environmental management system, which has been achieved at all three UK sites.

ISO 14001
MAHLE Powertrain is committed to managing its environmental impacts, both to the local and global environment, and to the continuous improvement of its environmental performance.

To achieve this aim, MAHLE Powertrain has implemented an Environmental Management Systems (EMS) in accordance with the International Management Standard ISO14001. The EMS defines the working procedures and controls necessary to manage the environmental aspects of the company's activities and provides the framework for continual improvement through the setting of targets and objectives.

The effective implementation of this system is only possible through the total involvement and commitment of all MAHLE Powertrain employees, customers, suppliers, contractors and regulatory bodies.

SGS United Kingdom certified the EMS to ISO14001 on 11 August 2000 at our Worcester site, 17 January 2001 at our Northampton site and 10 October 2001 at our Wellingborough facility.
